My Select Involvements

Particularly throughout my high school years, I've been able to get involved with various extracurriculars, whether its participating as a member of a youth forum or taking active leadership positions in art. Here are some spotlighted experiences that have been at the forefront of my mind!

Colouring Workshop at Yarrow

While I was marketing my therapeutic colouring book, I reached out to the Yarrow Intergenerational Society for Justice, hoping to use my self-published book in a colouring workshop for local seniors. I have previously attended one of Yarrow's artmaking workshops, and I saw this as an opportunity to provide back to the community that has ignited my interest in social justice. I provided the seniors with 25 of my self-drawn colouring sheets, guiding them through the colouring process to create a relaxing atmosphere.

School-wide Stained Glass Mural Project

As a part of a school initiative, I collaborated with our design faculty to ideate a temporary mural, installed in our school atrium. The aim of the mural is to represent a hopeful journey for the SJS student body, hence featuring a landscape of progressing waves and warm sunsets. To create this, everyone from kindergarten to grade 12 completed one 8.5x11in sheet of paper, which were eventually puzzled together into the mural.

Art Sessions for Youth Art for Action

I serve as the current Director for Youth Art for Action, where we host recurring art sessions at various senior homes, namely Amica Arbutus Manor and Terraces at 7th. These sessions serve as both accessible learning opportunities for seniors to engage in art  as well as a form of community-bonding with others through a shared interest in creation.

Forum for Young Canadians

During Spring of 2025, I was one of 100 Youth across Canada to attend a week-long parliament forum dedicated to empowering youth in Canadian politics. In this week, I've had the honour of meeting various esteemed members, such as the Governor General, House of Commons Speaker, and a Member of Parliament, learning about their responsibilities. Beyond that, I've also participated in several policy-drafting simulations, advocating for restorative justice methods when approaching social welfare issues.
